To be happy we need to "Fill in the blank"

This week, let's fill in this "blank" in the title. I think it's harder than we realize. We're quite good at telling each other, ourselves, anyone who will listen, about what makes us "not" happy. We're probably not as good about discussing what really makes us happy.

I know this is short notice and you may not have a chance to do this experiment but if you can, try this. If not just think about past experiences. Go somewhere where there are small groups of people, a restaurant is perfect. And listen. Mentally note what they are discussing. And not just what, but how. How is the conversation being painted. How is it evolving. Odds are what you will here will be complaining. Yep, that's what seems to make us happy. How oxymoronic.

I've had an interesting couple of weeks. I'll tell you as much as I can as we dig into this. Let's just say I've seen and heard a lot of complaining! And you know me, I like to take every chance I can to use my spiritual gift (stirring the pot)!

According to a web search these are some of the top things we complain about (I intentionally looked thru several lists to pick one that had no listings with politics or financial type items):

1. Bad customer service.

2. Telemarketers and robocalls.

3. People who cut in line.

4. Feeling cold.

5. Packages or letters that don't show up on time.

6. Traffic.

7. Trouble connecting to Wi-Fi.

8. Litter, and people who litter.

9. The weather.

10. Feeling too hot.

A few more that just missed the top ten are loud neighbors...people being late...no parking spaces...people who stare at their phones...spam emails...a bad phone signal...and feeling hungry.

Numbers CH 11 is such an interesting chapter if you dig in and get that one point that isn't exactly obvious when you read it. We're in the wilderness. We're getting ready to take part of God's ultimate plan for our lives. And we want to go back. Ah, the "good ole days".

See ya tomorrow.
