God's Hand in Meeting Our Needs

Have you ever had a "sit up and pay attention" moment. I had one of those last week. As I shared with our Wednesday night Bible study group at MVBC, I got some bad (but not completely unexpected) news last week. The company that I have spent basically my entire professional career with (27+ years) is shutting down. I found out Tuesday. I've been either in school or employed every day of my life since I was 15. I was actually driving down to Mr. Gipson's farm before I had my drivers license for a summer job. The Western Sizzlin' got me thru college. And a little time at Dollar General. And three whole days working in a sock mill. After JSU was a few months in Birmingham as a synthetic organic chemist. Seriously, I know nothing about organic chemistry. I took the class like three times. Then a couple years in Glencoe as a hazardous waste chemist. I came home each day stinking of chlorides. When we moved to Clemson I worked the summer before starting classes in a small lab. Then grad school. A couple years in southwest VA with an environmental lab. Then back home to my current position. A side hustle now and then. That farming thing didn't work out. Not a single empty day. I know this is all babbling but I just wanted to scream out "Why????". Seems I'm being a little selfish aren't I? So many blessings.
There's some anxiety. Waking up at 4 am. All the questions that run thru your mind. How can this be? What will happen? Didn't I do everything right? But a couple days ago, there was a peace. My thoughts now are on all the things around here that I have let slip over the years.
Still, there is doubt. I'm a worrier by nature. I plan a lot but my plans seem to start and stall. We were gonna play golf today but, well, the rain has other plans. So after my coffee I grabbed my Sunday School book to start looking at tomorrows lesson. The title ... are you ready for this ... have you studied yet ... spoiler alert, it's a good one .... "God's Hand in Meeting Our Needs". This week of all weeks THIS is our lesson. Well, maybe this one is just for me.
See you tomorrow!
