The Plagues

Feels like we are living in one, doesn't it? According to the world health organization there have been 765 million confirmed cases of Covid and 6.9 million deaths to date (as of 5/6/2023). No matter what you believe about it, it's cause, it's transmission, anything about it, one thing is for sure, it has changed every culture on this planet.
I wonder what Moses though about the 10 plagues? Or the Israelites? Or the Egyptians? Or Pharaoh? Exodus CH 5 begins with Moses and Aaron meeting Pharaoh. Pharaoh wants nothing to do with this, after all, he is Pharaoh. In his culture, he is practically a god (the 9th plague is so interesting when you see it from his point of view). I see many things in today's world that resemble the events in the next few chapters we will study.
We know what happens, but as you read thru these chapters notice how the story evolves. How the characters react. Which character in the story do you see yourself as? Think about the plagues themselves and what they mean to the Egyptians. Keeps these points in mind as we begin our next series of discussions:
Who does the plague affect? Is it both the Egyptians and the Israelites?
Can Pharaoh's magicians repeat every plague?
How many times do you see "tomorrow", why is this important?
Do you see Pharaoh or his magicians "giving in" as the plagues progress?
How can the plagues be grouped together and what do they represent?
Does each plague tie to an Egyptian god?
Why do they have to travel 3 days?
And why does it have to be so devastating?
The next few weeks will be interesting!!! Se ya tomorrow.
