The Beach

The Beach.

Ah, vacations. Been to the beach all week with the crew. I like the beach -- when it's not too hot, waves not too rough, not too much seaweed, or jellyfish, or too many people! My wife is probably shaking her head right about now as she reads this. The first day we were there we had double red flags. Everyone was sitting on the beach looking at the water. At 10am they changed it to a single red flag. Still a danger sign but it wasn't illegal to get into the water. There was a wave of folks headed in. The next day in the evening Lexi spotted a yellow flag. She was so excited! The last day was so calm, so peaceful, so clear, perfect beach and water weather! We really enjoyed it.

If only life had "flags" so we could see what's ahead. Warning signs, caution signs, calm signs.

As the Israelites begin their new journey out of their 400 year bondage and new religious freedom, I wonder what the thoughts were? Smooth sailing? Caution? Excitement? Fear? Exodus CH 14 has a powerful message that carries such meaning, even to us today. Reading just vs 1 and 2 you get the feeling that God is just beginning to shape their understanding of this new "faith" that will become critical to their future.

Are we like that? Do we find ourselves surrounded by everything we wish wasn't there? The good news, God is there when enemy is closing in and we lose control!

See ya tomorrow!
