Well, I decided to do another very late in the day post. I bet you never expected that one!
We've had a busy few days. Lots of interesting people passed by MVBC this week. So many stories. I may tell a couple tomorrow. Hey, did anyone take that TV? It was a pretty good bargain ....
I wonder what folks talked about two thousand years ago? Did they have yard sales back then? I wonder if there were any interesting characters walking around.
Let's discuss one of them tomorrow (John the Baptist). When I think of John, the only thing that pops into my head is "honey and locusts". That seems like such a strange thing to know about a person. He seemed to be a person who brought such attention while at the same time diverting that attention to Jesus.
There are quite a few scriptures about John and we may not get into all but this is a good place to start:
Background and Early Life: (Luke 1:5-25, 57-66)
Preaching and Baptism: (Matthew 3:1-12).
Forerunner of Jesus: (John 1:29-34).
Baptism of Jesus: (Matthew 3:13-17).
Imprisonment and Death: (Mark 6:17-20).
Martyrdom: Matthew 14:1-12 and Mark 6:14-29.
I guess the real thing I want to focus our thoughts on is "How is John any different than we are today"?
See ya tomorrow.
