A mid week thought

Updated: Aug 3, 2024

It's Tuesday night, just after 10pm. The house is quiet. We had a good rain. I had a normal day. Up early. Drive. Worked on a few projects. Drive. Supper, or was it dinner (that's an inside family joke), project, TV, ponder why I can't sleep.

I had a long conversation today with a coworker. If you caught my devotional last Sunday, you will know what I'm referring to. I won't put details here as it is a private issue, but it was a helpful conversation. As I reflect on today, I realize that what we all need is someone to trust. To talk to. To lean on. To make a difference. And in todays ever changing fast paced stay at the front of the pack world, it's hard to think we're making a difference.

In Matthey chapter 5 Christ teaches that no one lights a candle just to cover it with a bushel. And here's why that's so important. In a dark world, it doesn't take a raging wildfire to be seen. Just a small, ever present light. Even though we can easily hide it, we can also easily let it illuminate the entire room.

Here is a short video clip of Operation Christmas Children reciting bible verses:

As you watch these don't read the words (you know these), look at the faces. See the smiles. The body language. There is true joy radiating from them.

Today is Amazon Prime Day, a heavily discounted day. While it is not overly advertised, Amazon has a storefront dedicated to OCC. You can find it here:

They have great deals on bulk items that we can pack in our shoeboxes. If you have time today please check it out.

Thank you for all you do. Let's go be luminous!

Mark
