The Three Bears

As I thought about this one, I was reminded of the three bears. You remember the tale, it's too hot, it's too cold, it's too this or it's too that. We're all like that sometimes. I know I am.

After pharaoh's army disappeared right in front of the Israelites (Ex 14:26-31 pay attention to verse 30) there was a celebration of song (CH 15:1-21). You'd think they finally make the connection that this thing was gonna work out the way God had intended. After all the struggles, seeing what God did thru Moses, the plagues, the pass over, the Red Sea crossing ... I mean come on folks look around. But then Ch 16, ah yes, human nature, the wilderness murmurings chapter. "And the whole congregation murmured against Moses and Aaron" is how 16:2 puts it. I see this as more than a whisper, more than a little disapproval. I see it as almost a "putting on trial" moment.

But aren't we the same? I am. With all God has blessed me with, and kept me from, I still never seem to turn lose and trust fully. Why is that I wonder? This week I've been on my tractor a lot. This used to be a sort of therapy. Bush hog something, push something over, move some dirt. All good things. But sometimes it's just another chore. Another box on the list to check off. As I was pushing thru some weeds today I looked back over the area I had just completed and there were at least a dozen sparrows making kamikaze dives right down to the ground. They were enjoying the bugs I had stirred up. It reminded me of Matt 6:25-31.

I guess this weeks lesson is for me!

We'll dig onto Ex 14-16

See you tomorrow.
